Processes of deindustrialization and restructuring of industry after 1989 in selected cities of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit a popsat průběh procesů deindustrializace a restrukturalizace průmyslu po roce 1989 na příkladu osmi okresních měst: Břeclavi, Chebu, Chrudimi, Kolína, Loun, Příbrami, Strakonic a Žďáru nad Sázavou. Výstupem práce je databáze průmyslových areálů a lokalit ve sledovaných městech s porovnáním jejich využití před rokem 1989 a současným využitím. Procesy deindustrializace a restrukturalizace průmyslu po roce 1989 byly vyhodnocovány z hlediska vývoje podílu zaměstnanosti v průmyslu a v jednotlivých odvětvích průmyslových činností na celkové zaměstnanosti. Nejvýraznější pokles zaměstnanosti v průmyslu byl pozorován u měst Strakonice a Chrudimi. Nejvýraznější změnu struktury zaměstnanosti z hlediska průmyslových odvětví zaznamenalo město Příbram.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis was to identify and describe the course of the processes of deindustrialization and restructuring of industry after 1989 on the example of eight district towns of Břeclav, Cheb, Chrudim, Kolín, Louny, Příbram, Strakonice and Žďár nad Sázavou. The output of the thesis is a database of industrial complexes and sites in the surveyed towns with a comparison of their use before 1989 and their current use. The processes of deindustrialization and restructuring of industry after 1989 were evaluated in terms of the development of the share of employment in industry and in individual sectors of industrial activities in total employment. The most significant decline in industrial employment was observed in the towns of Strakonice and Chrudim. The most significant change in the employment structure in terms of industrial sectors was observed in the town of Příbram.
