Crystal chemistry and genesis of magnetite from West-Moravian skarns

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis studies magnetites from Fe-skarns in western Moravia region. The theoretical part is concerned with geology of Fe.skarns and magnetites in a general way according to available information and describes the crystal chemistry, genesis and structure of magnetites from skarns and rocks similar to them. The practical part of the research contents the macroscopical and microscopical description of magnetite’s mineral association, examinating the conditions of it´s genesis and characteristics of it´s chemical composition, while emphasising the amount of contained elements in magnetite. The results interpret volume values of trace elements, defining the type of the rock´s genesis.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje studiu magnetitů z Fe-skarnů v oblasti západní Moravy. Teoretická část se věnuje geologii Fe-skarnů a magnetitů obecně, podle již dosud získaných poznatků a popisuje krystalochemii, genezi a strukturu magnetitů v skarnech a jim podobným horninám. Praktická část výzkumu se zabývá makroskopickým a mikroskopickým popisem minerálních asociací magnetitů, zkoumáním podmínek jeho vzniku a charakteristikou jeho chemického složení, přičemž je kladen důraz na množství obsažených prvků v magnetitu. Ve výsledcích jsou interpretovány hodnoty obsahů různých stopových prvků, díky kterým je možné určit o jaký typ geneze magnetitu se jedná.
