Putin's Russia - democracy, hybrid regime or authoritarianism?

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo určit jaký typ režimu je v současné době za vlády Vladimira Putina v Ruské federaci. Jako první jsem stanovil definice demokratického, hybridního a autoritářského režimu, podle kterých jsem analyzoval současný ruský režim. Operuji hlavně s volbami, které jsou jasným ukazatelem demokratičnosti a vztahem mezi režimem a společností, zejména pak dodržování lidských práv. Posléze jsem analyzoval režim Ruské federace skrze mnou určené proměnné, ale pro úplné vytvoření obrazu jsem musel popsat i některé další aspekty režimu, a to zejména post prezidenta. Došel jsem k závěru, že režim v Rusku lze označit jako elektorální autoritářský režim. Svůj závěr vyvozuji z falšování předvolebních preferencí a volebních výsledků, útlaku opozice a nedodržování některých lidských práv, hlavně svobody názoru a projevu. Opozice pak není k volbám připuštěna, nejčastěji kvůli nesplnění různých požadavků pro registraci kandidátů nebo vykonstruovaných trestních stíhání. Média v zemi jsou buď ovládaná režimem a hlásají oficiální linku Kremlu, nebo která nejsou ovládána režimem jsou režimem šikanována a potlačována.

Abstract:

The aim of this work was to determine what type of regime is currently under the rule of Vladimir Putin in the Russian Federation. I first set out the definitions of a democratic, hybrid and authoritarian regime by which I analyzed the current Russian regime. I mainly operate with elections that are a clear indicator of democracy and the relationship between the regime and society, especially respect for human rights. Eventually, I analyzed the Russian Federation's regime through the variables I designed for me, but to complete the picture I had to describe some other aspects of the regime, especially the President's post. I came to the conclusion that the regime in Russia can be described as an electoral authoritarian regime. I conclude my conclusion by falsifying pre-election preferences and electoral results, oppression of opposition and non-respect of some human rights, especially freedom of opinion and expression. The opposition is then not admitted to the election, most often due to the failure to meet the different requirements for the registration of candidates or artificial prosecutions. The media in the country is either dominated by the regime and proclaim the Kremlin's official line, or that is not controlled by the regime, being bullyed and suppressed by the regime.
