Differences in colour vision according to sex and culture

Abstract:

Ve své práci se snažím shrnout základní informace o tom, jaké mohou být rozdíly v barevném vidění mezi jednotlivými lidmi lišícími se příslušností k danému pohlaví, kulturním a jazykovým dědictvím či rasou. V první části zmiňuji základní anatomické uspořádání oka, mechanizmus zpracování barevného vjemu a jeho vyhodnocení mozkem. V druhé, stěžejní části, se zabývám epidemiologií a genetickým původem onemocnění barvocitu, polymorfií ve vnímání barev u zdravých jedinců a výjimečné genetické mutaci, kterou označujeme jako tetrachromazii.

Abstract:

In my work I try to summarize the basic information about what may be the main differences in color vision between people according to sex, cultural and linguistic heritage and race. In the first part I mention the basic anatomical arrangement of the eye and the processing mechanism of color perception in brain. The second main part is focused on the epidemiology and genetic origin of diseases of color vision, color vision polymorphism in healthy individuals and unusual genetic mutation, which we refer to as tetrachromacy.
