Towards the united Europe? Contribution to the history of the economic and the political development of the european integration during the years 1951-1957

Abstract:

Práce se soustředí na analýzu Evropského společenství uhlí a oceli v období let 1951-1957. Důraz je kladen na hospodářský a politický vývoj 6 zemí západní Evropy, které stály u vzniku ECSC. Teoretická část je věnována analýze ekonomické integrace a definuje základní stupně ekonomické integrace. Analytická část zkoumá průběh formování ECSC, konkrétní postoje jednotlivých zemí k myšlence ECSC a reálný dopad společenství na hospodářství členských zemí. Podařilo se verifikovat hlavní hypotézu, že členské země Evropského společenství uhlí a oceli vykazovaly v padesátých letech 20. století vyšší hospodářský růst, než zbylé evropské země a to právě díky zapojení se do tohoto společenství.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the analysis of the European Coal and Steel Community in 1951-1957. It deals mainly with the economic and political development in six Western European countries, which founded the ECSC. The theoretical part is dedicated to the analysis of economic integration and defines the basic level of the economic integration. The analytical part of the thesis examines the process of the creation of the ECSC, positions of member states to the idea of ECSC and the effect of the ECSC on the economy of member countries. The answer to the hypothesis if member states of the European Coal and Steel Community produce higher economic growth in the fifties of the 20th century, than non members states, was correct.
