Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku života Židů v newyorské čtvrti Lower East Side v dílech raných amerických židovských spisovatelů. Práce se skládá ze dvou částí. V teoretické části autorka osvětlí historické pozadí a příčiny imigrace Židů do Ameriky, zejména do New Yorku, a zasadí zkoumané autory do literárního kontextu americké židovské literatury.
