Concept of Nature in William Wordsworth's poems

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on William Wordsworth?s theory of nature. The aim of the thesis is to analyze how Wordsworth perceives nature and what is his relation to it. The thesis is divided in three chapters. The first chapter deals with the definition of the notion ?nature?, with Wordsworth?s development of perceiving of nature and with the main motives in his poems relating to his conception of nature. Next chapter discusses principal points of ?Preface? to Lyrical Ballads, namely spontaneous overflow of the poet?s feelings, men of simple habits, Wordsworth?s language and his use of poetic figures. The last chapter handles with ?Tintern Abbey?, summarizing the poet?s conception of nature, with its analysis and application of the theory of ?The Preface? on ?Tintern Abbey?. At the end of the chapter, the degree to which the poem is in accordance with ?The Preface? is evaluated.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá pojetím přírody v díle Williama Wordswortha. Cílem práce je analýza básníkova vnímání přírody a vztahu k ní. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. Obsahem první kapitoly je definice pojmu ?příroda?, Wordsworthův vývoj ve vnímání přírody a rozbor klíčových motivů, které s jeho pojetím přírody souvisejí. Následující kapitola pojednává o stěžejních bodech ?Předmluvy? k Lyrickým baladám, a to o spontánním přetékání básníkových citů, o prostých venkovských lidech a o Wordsworthově jazyce a jeho způsobu užívání básnických figur. V poslední kapitole je analyzována báseň ?Tinternské opatství?, jež shrnuje básníkovo pojetí přírody a na níž je aplikována teorie obsažena v ?Předmluvě? k Lyrickým baladám. V závěru kapitoly je zhodnoceno, do jaké míry se báseň shoduje s ?Předmluvou?.
