Use of objects of Czechoslovak border fortifications the example of the Areal of Czechoslovak Fortifications in Šatov

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vývojem pohraničního opevnění a jeho vlivem na život v obci, a to nejen dnes, zároveň se snaží porovnat život v obci v jednotlivých historických epochách. Jedná se tedy o historicko-geografickou práci. Jako referenční území bylo vybráno území obce Šatov v česko-rakouském pohraničí. Úvodní je kapitola věnována historickému kontextu výstavby opevnění a jeho technickým datům. V dalších kapitolách se nachází výzkum a popis vývoje opevnění v jednotlivých epochách. To je později promítnuto do společenského života v obci a charakteristice obce v dnešních dnech. Současná situace a atraktivita obce je hodnocena mj. pomocí dotazníkového šetření. Dále je posuzováno, jak byl život v obci ovlivněn nejen všeobecnými vnějšími i vnitřními faktory, ale především specifikem působností armády, pohraniční stráže a dnes muzeem pohraničního opevnění společně s velkým počtem turistů.

Abstract:

This Master's thesis deals with the development of border fortifications and its influence on the life in the village of Šatov. The thesis does not focus only on the contemporary situation there, but it also tries to compare the village life in particular historical periods. Therefore, it can be considered a historical geographical thesis. The village of Šatov – situated at the Czech-Austrian border – was used as a reference territory. The opening part concerns itself with the historical context of the construction of fortifications and its technical data. The following chapters deal with the research and description of the development of the fortification in individual time periods. This is later on reflected in the social life of the village and characteristic features of the village nowadays. The state and attractiveness of the village is assessed by a questionnaire method. The Master's thesis places a great emphasis on the attractiveness of the village life. At the same time, it assesses the influence of both external and internal factors, mainly the influence of the army, border guards and of border fortification´s museum together with a large number of tourists coming there.
