Štítná žláza (Glandula thyreoidea) je největší endokrinní žlázou u člověka. Nachází se na přední straně krku před průdušnicí. Štítná žláza je tvořena váčky (folikuly), které uvnitř obsahují bílkovinu tyreoglobulin, na kterou jsou navázány tyreoidální hormony tyroxin a trijodtyronin. Abstract:
The thyroid gland (Glandula thyreoidea) is the biggest endocrine human gland. It is situated on the front side of the neck before trachea. The thyroid gland is made up of the sacs (follicles), that contain the protein thyroglobulin. To this protein the thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine are added.
