Commercialization of science and research results through social science spin-off companies in the business environment of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zjistit, co brání komercializaci a zakládání univerzitních společensko-vědních spin-off firem v České republice a jak mohou univerzity podpořit jejich vznik. V teoretické části práce bude objasněn širší kontext komercializace výsledků vědy a výzkumu v českém prostředí, bude rozebrána otázka financování spin-off projektu a budou vysvětleny klíčové pojmy potřebné k naplnění cíle. Bude zde uvedeno, jak v současném právním a kulturním prostředí probíhá transfer poznatků a technologií do praxe, co tomu napomáhá a brání, dále bude popsán koncept univerzitních spin-off firem. Empirická část se zaměří na popis zvolené výzkumné strategie, formulaci výzkumných otázek, volbu a popis technik sběru dat, etiky a rizik výzkumu. Dále bude popsán proces analýzy a interpretace dat. Zjištění budou diskutována s výstupy z odborných zdrojů a budou vytvořeny implikace pro praxi v oblasti zakládání univerzitních společenskovědních spin-off firem v ČR včetně vhodných způsobů financování.

Abstract:

The aim of the work is to determine what hinders the commercialization and establishment of university social science spin-off companies in the Czech Republic and how universities can support their creation. The theoretical part of the work will clarify the broader context of commercializing the results of science and research in the Czech environment, will discuss the issue of financing a spin-off project, and will explain the key terms needed to achieve the goal. It will be indicated how the transfer of knowledge and technology into practice occurs in the current legal and cultural environment, what helps and hinders it, and the concept of university spin-off companies will be described. The empirical part will focus on describing the chosen research strategy, formulating research questions, choosing and describing data collection techniques, ethics, and research risks. The process of data analysis and interpretation will also be described. The findings will be discussed with outputs from professional sources and implications for practice in the area of establishing university social science spin-off companies in the Czech Republic, including suitable financing methods, will be created
