Stock companies' capital structure and its determinants

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou kapitálové struktury akciové společnosti, zejména složkami kapitálu akciových společností a faktory, které determinují jejich zadluženost. Práce obsahuje hlavní poznatky empirických studií a praktické příklady struktury kapitálu v České republice a v zahraničí. V teoretické části je dále podán přehled historického vývoje kapitálové struktury v českých podnicích a na závěr jsou vysvětleny základní teorie optimalizace. Praktická část práce obsahuje analýzu kapitálové struktury vybrané vodohospodářské společnosti a pokus o zjištění vlivu možných determinantů kapitálové struktury na míru zadluženosti akciových společností ve vodohospodářském odvětví.

Abstract:

This thesis analyses stock companies' capital structure, primarily the components of companies' capital and determinants of their leverage. Firstly, the paper contains prime findings of empirical studies and practical examples of capital structure in the Czech Republic and foreign countries. Further in the theoretical part, there is an overview of historical trends of Czech companies' capital structure and an explanation of main optimization theories. The second, practical part analyses capital structure of a chosen water and wastewater company and makes an attempt to analyse an influence of possible determinants of water and wastewater companies' leverage.
