The Grand Tour of Franz Leopold and Karl Jakob Buquoys between 1726-1731

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá kavalírskou cestou bratrů Františka Leopolda a Karla Jakuba Buquoyů v letech 1726 ? 1731. Nejdříve stručně pojednává o rodu Buquoy, jeho původu, významných představitelích a jejich majetku. Dále se práce zabývá kavalírskými cestami v období novověku, jejich významem a funkcí včetně představení základní literatury a pramenů. Nejvýznamnější částí bakalářské práce je zpracování cestovních účtů kavalírské cesty bratrů Buquoyů, které dopodrobna rozebírá. Práce analyzuje určité aspekty každodenního života, cestování a vzdělání novověké šlechty.

Abstract:

This work focuses on the grand tour of Franz Leopold and Karl Jakob Buquoy between 1726 and 1731. The first part of this work describes the lineage of the Buquoy family, especially its origin, the most remarkable persons and their property. The next part of this work shows the importance of the grand tours in the modern period and presents the literature and historical sources that deals with this topic. The most significant part of this work is detailed analysis of the amount of money that Buquoy spent during their grand tour from which it describes some aspects of their everyday life especially travelling and education.
