The reflection of "european Identity" in the works of east and west european writers

Abstract:

This dissertation thesis deals with the notion of "European Identity", with its content, word meaning, importance, and questions the very existence of such identity. The contextualization of the notion of European Identity is chiefly focused on the cultural and the national stereotypes and also on ever more powerful impact of globalization. The goal of the practical part of the thesis is to analyze and subsequently to draw a comparison of the perception of and relation to the European Identity of some East and West European writers. This comparison is worked out and based on the essays by individual European writers published in the book Europa schreibt.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá "evropskou identitou", jejím obsahem, významem a celkově i otázkou její vlastní existence. Kontextualizace pojmu evropská identita je zde zaměřena především na kulturní a národnostní stereotypy a také na stále sílící vlivy globalizace. Cílem praktické části této práce je analyzovat a následně i porovnat vnímání a vztah vybraných evropských spisovatelů k evropské identitě, a to se zaměřením na jejich východo- nebo západoevropský původ. Tato komparace je vypracována na základě esejů jednotlivých evropských autorů v knize Europa schreibt.
