Práce si klade za cíl srovnat poměr konvenčních a nukleárních zbraní u států NATO (s větším důrazem na Spojené státy americké) a dnešní Ruské federace společně s jejím předchůdcem Sovětským svazem. Konkrétně se srovnává rok 1987 s rokem 2016.Teoretický úvod je veden v premisách ofenzivního realismu, ve kterém hraje vojenská síla a ekonomika zemí důležitou roli. The thesis focuses on the comparison of conventional and nuclear weapons between NATO countries (with greater emphasis on the United States of America) and today's Russian Federation together with its predecessor, the Soviet Union.
