Kochlear implants of children with hearing impairment

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá kochleární implantací u dětí se sluchovým postižením. Práce je členěna na teoretickou a výzkumnou část a je rozložena do čtyř kapitol. Dominantním cílem výzkumu je analyzovat způsob komunikace po provedené KI a zjistit, co je po provedené KI pro rodinu a dítě nejnáročnější. Parciálními cíli jsou analyzovat věk dětí při zjištění sluchového postižení a analyzovat věk dětí při provedení implantace. Úvodní kapitola vymezuje základní pojmy týkající se problematiky sluchově postižených. Dále se zabývá anatomií a fyziologií sluchového ústrojí, klasifikací a diagnostikou sluchového postižení. V následující kapitole je věnován prostor sluchové protetice. Teoretickou část uzavírá třetí kapitola, pojednávající o kochleárních implantacích. Zabývá se výběrem kandidátů, jednotlivými fázemi kochleární implantace a také rehabilitační péčí u jedinců s kochleáním implantátem. Čtvrtou kapitolu tvoří vlastní výzkumné šetření, zaměřené na děti s kochleárním implantátem.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis deals with cochlear implantations in auditory disabled children. The work consists of a theoretical and research part and it is divided into four chapters. The primary objective of the research is to analyse the way of communication after the CI and to find out what is the most demanding thing for the family and child after the CI. The secondary objectives include: to analyse the childrens age upon determining auditory handicap and to analyse the childrens age in the time of implantation. The introductory chapter defines the basic concepts related to the issue of auditory disabled people. Individual concepts used in literature are explained. The chapter further deals with anatomy and physiology of the acoustic apparatus, and classification and diagnostics of auditory handicap. The next chapter deals with auditory prosthetics. It describes the history of auditory prosthetics from its very beginnings up to the modern auditory prosthetics including cochlear implant. The theoretical part is concluded with the third chapter dealing with cochlear implantations. It deals with selection of candidates, individual phases of cochlear implantation as well as rehabilitation care in individuals with cochlear implant. The fourth chapter consists of the proper pilot survey aimed at children with a cochlear implant.
