The status of woman in business and entrepreneurship in Arab countries

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je nastínit faktory, které ovlivňují život žen v arabských zemích a to zejména ten profesní, což má samozřejmě vliv i na jejich postavení ve sféře obchodu a podnikání. Dále poukázat na rozdílné postavení žen v jednotlivých arabských státech a na odlišné pracovní možnosti, které jim dané země nabízí. Dílčím cílem je také upozornit na rozličná omezení, se kterými se ženy musí ve svém profesním i soukromém životě potýkat. Práce by také měla potvrdit či vyvrátit hypotézu, zda se postavení žen v arabských zemích zlepšuje. K nalezení odpovědí jsou použity odborné publikace, články z novin, statistiky OSN, ale také informace získané přímo z praxe, které poskytla alžírská podnikatelka Džauhar Abdalláh Benzinia. Práce je rozčleněna do tří kapitol. První z nich objasňuje, které státy jsou označovány jako arabské a jak se z geografického hlediska dělí. Dále zmiňuje faktory, které ovlivňují charakter místního obyvatelstva. Druhá kapitola je věnována nejdůležitějšímu z těchto faktorů, kterým je islám. Třetí, nejrozsáhlejší kapitola analyzuje postavení ženy ve společnosti v arabských zemích. Zaměřuje se na oblasti, jako jsou oblékání, vzdělání, ženské organizace, ekonomický život a zaměstnání žen v arabských zemích. Výsledkem celé práce by měla být analýza postavení žen v arabských zemích, poukázání na faktory, které ovlivňují jejich život (jak pracovní tak soukromý). Kromě toho také zdůraznění rozmanitosti těchto zemí. Práce by taktéž měla poukázat na překážky, které ženám ztěžují jejich osobní i profesní realizaci.

Abstract:

The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to outline the factors that affect the lives of women in Arab countries and especially the professional one, which has an impact on their position in business and entrepreneurship. The paper should also highlight the different status of women in various Arab countries and the different career opportunities that the country offers them. A partial aim is to note on various restrictions, which women in their professional and private life have to deal with. The paper should also confirm or disprove the hypothesis, whether the status of women in Arab countries improves. To find the answers scientific publications, newspaper articles, statistics of the UN, but also information obtained directly from the work experience provided by the Algerian businesswoman Džauhar Abdalláh Benzinia are used. The paper is divided into three chapters. The first one makes clear which states are labeled as Arab and how they are geographically divided. It also mentions the factors that influence the character of the local population. The second chapter is devoted to the most important of these factors, which is Islam. The third and longest chapter analyzes the status of women in society in Arab countries. It focuses on areas such as clothing, education, women's organizations, economic life and employment of women in Arab countries. The result of the thesis should be an analysis of the status of women in Arab countries, pointing out the factors that affect their lives (both the professional and the private). In addition, it highlights the diversity of these countries. The paper should also point out the obstacles that hinder women from their personal and professional implementation.
