The position of women and men on the labor market of the Czech Republic between 1993-2019 in the context of equal opportunities and discrimination

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá trhem práce mužů a žen v České republice v letech 1993-2019 vzhledem k rovným příležitostem a diskriminaci. Cílem práce zanalyzovat a zhodnotit postavení žen a mužů na trhu práce ve sledovaném období. V teoretické části jsou představeny základní pojmy související s genderovou problematikou a diskriminací a popsány jednotlivé ekonomické teorie a modely diskriminace. V praktické části jsou popsány jednotlivé legislativní a institucionální nástroje v ČR pro dosahování rovných příležitostí a eliminace diskriminace. Dále zde provedena statistická analýza vybraných ukazatelů z oblasti trhu práce za sledované období, na kterých je možné demonstrovat nerovnosti mezi pohlavími. Práce poukazuje na nerovné postavení žen a mužů na trhu práce, které je možné zlepšit odstraněním genderových stereotypů, podporou sladění pracovního a rodinného života, vyšším zapojením mužů do péče o rodinu nebo flexibilními formami zaměstnání.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of labor market of men and women in the Czech Republic between 1993-2019 with respect to equal opportunities and discrimination. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze and evaluate the position of women and men in the labor market in a defined period. The theoretical part introduces the basic concepts related to gender issues and discrimination and describes the various economic theories and models of discrimination. The analytical part focuses on the individual legislative and institutional instruments in the Czech Republic for achieving equal opportunities and eliminating discrimination. Furthermore, there is a statistical analysis of selected indicators from the labor market in a defined period, on which it is possible to demonstrate inequalities between the sexes. The bachelor thesis points to the unequal position of women and men in the labor market, which can be improved by eliminating gender stereotypes, promoting the reconciliation of work and family life, greater involvement of men in caring for the family or flexible forms of employment.
