Readiness of educational institutions to integrate children with somatic disabilities.

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zmapovat připravenost školských zařízení na integraci dětí se somatickým znevýhodněním konkrétně s diabetem mellitem 1. typu. V rámci výzkumného šetření, které bylo realizováno formou strukturovaných rozhovorů s rodiči dětí se somatickým znevýhodněním a dále pak se zainteresovanými pracovníky vybraných základních škol, byla zkoumána znalost pedagogických pracovníků o problematice somaticky znevýhodněných dětí s DM 1. typu a ze strany rodičů pak hodnocení spolupráce se vzdělávacím zařízením. Teoretická část byla zaměřena na definici somatického postižení s uvedením možných problémů, které mohou vyvstat v souvislosti se školní docházkou. Jedná se hlavně o výskyt této nemoci (diabetes mellitus 1. typu DM 1. typu) v populaci, její charakteristiky, léčba, základní režimová opatření, specifika úpravy pohybové aktivity a eventuální změny v režimu výuky. V empirické části byly analyzovány strukturované rozhovory s pedagogickými pracovníky s ohledem na znalosti problematiky DM 1. typu. Bylo ověřeno, do jaké míry školská zařízení vychází vstříc dětem a rodičům žáků postižených touto nemocí a jak jsou rodiče spokojeni s přístupy školských zařízení. Na základě výsledků výzkumného šetření bylo zpracováno doporučení pro zlepšení připravenosti školských zařízení a zároveň spolupráce s rodiči v rámci integrace somaticky znevýhodněných dětí.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to map the readiness of educational institutions to integrate children with somatic disabilities specifically with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Within the research, this was realized through structured interviews with parents of children with somatic disabilities, involved staff of selected primary schools. It has been investigated depth knowledge of teachers (pedagogical staff) on the issue of somatically destabilised children with type 1 diabetes mellitus and evaluation of the cooperation between educational institutions and parents. The theoretical part is focused on the definition of somatic disability with an enumeration of potential problems that may arise in connection with school attendance. This is mainly on the incidence of this disease (diabetes mellitus type 1 DM - I) in the population and its characteristics, treatment, basic routine measures, specifics of the adaptation of physical activity and possible changes in the mode of education. In the empirical part of this thesis were analyzed structured interviews with pedagogical staff with in view of knowledge about type 1 diabetes. It has been verified to what extent school caters to children and parents of pupils disabilities by this disease and parental satisfaction with the accession of educational institutions. Based on the results of this research was made recommendation for improving readiness of educational institutions and also in cooperation with parents within integration of children with somatic disability.
