Abstract:
This bachelor's thesis is focused on the portrayal of the flapper in selected works of Francis Scott Fitzgerald. Specifically, Fitzgerald's novels This Side of Paradise, Tender Is the Night and short stories "Bernice Bobs Her Hair," and "The Ice Palace" are analyzed in order to highlight chosen elements corresponding to various characterizations of the flapper. Romány Na prahu ráje a Něžná je noc jsou spolu s povídkami "Berenika stříhá vlasy" a "Ledový palác" analyzovány s cílem poukázat na vybrané prvky, které odpovídají popisu mladé ženy dvacátých let.
