Friedrich Schiller's theoretical writings on theatre and drama

Anotácia:

Tématem mé bakalářské práce jsou teoretické spisy o divadle Friedricha Schillera. Popsala jsem jednotlivá díla, která se vztahují buď k teorii divadla, tragédii nebo umění obecně. Věnovala jsem se také vlivu Kantovy filosofie na Schillerovo myšlení a krátce Schillerovým úvahám o výchovných možnostech umění. Těžištěm mé práce je rozbor Schillerova posledního teoretického textu O užití chóru v tragédii, který jsem přeložila z němčiny do češtiny. Text překladu je připojen v příloze této práce.

Abstract:

The theme of my bachelorʼs diploma thesis are Friedrich Schillerʼs theoretical writings about theatre. I have described those of his writings that refer either to the theory of drama, to tragedy or to art in general. I have also dealt with the influence of Kantʼs philosophy on Schillerʼs thinking and, briefly, with Schillerʼs reflections on educational possibilites of art. The focus of my work is the analysis of Schillerʼs last theoretical writing, namely, On the Use of the Chorus in Tragedy, which I have translated from German into Czech. The translation is included in the appendix of the thesis.
