The memory of the Brno City Theatre visitors

Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské práci se zabývám pamětí dlouholetých předplatitelů Městského divadla Brno. Kvalitativní výzkum, vedený metodou strukturovaného rozhovoru, proběhl v divadelní sezóně 2010/2011. V teoretické části se zabývám sociologií a kvalitativním výzkumem a také kognitivní pamětí a jejím dělení. Vzhledem k tomu, že jsem pracovala vesměs se staršími lidmi, potýkala jsem se s problémem zapomínání. To se projevovalo především v těžkostech při vzpomínání na jména herců či titulů představení. Výsledky výzkumu jsem rozdělila do několika částí. První část se zabývá důvody k zakoupení abonmá do Městského divadla Brno. Chtěla jsem také znát nejstarší zážitek z divadla a zajímal mě vývoj divadelních návštěv diváků z hlediska struktury a jejich vzájemných vztahů. Protože abonent, který vlastní předplatné několik desetiletí, vykazuje určitý prvek stability a “věrnosti” k jednomu divadlu, zajímala jsem se také o to, co pro takového diváka znamená divadlo a jakou roli zaujímá v jeho životě. Abonenti se velmi často uchylovali k hodnocení představení nejen svého domovského divadla, ale také ostatních divadel a srovnávali je. Na konkrétních příkladech jsem se snažila ukázat různé typy paměti diváků. Další část je analýzou toho, jak vnímají abonenti složky divadelního představení a jestli, resp. jak je je pro ně důležitá osoba režiséra. Tato část ukázala, že respondenti mého výzkumu nijak zvlášť nerozlišují jednotlivé složky divadelního předstasvení a nevnímají postavu režiséra, jako sjednocující osoby představení. Jméno režiséra bylo důležité jen pro určitou část, vesměs informovanějších, abonentů. Závěr je věnován rozdělení diváků do skupin, popisu jejich charakteristik a důvodů, které je vedou k návštěvám divadla.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the memory of longtime subscribers of The Brno City Theatre. Qualitative research, conducted by method of structured interview, took place in the theatrical season of 2010/2011. In theoretical part I was concerned with sociology and qualitative research as well as cognitive memory and its division. Because I mostly worked with older people, I struggled with the problem of forgetting. It´s manifested in particular in difficulties with remembering names of actors and performance titles. The results of my research, I separated into several parts. First part deals with reasons for buying a subscription to The Brno City Theatre. I wanted to know the oldest theatre experience and I was interested in development of theatre visits with the aspect of structure and their relationships. Because the subscribers, who own the subcscription for many decades, have an element of stability and loyalty to one theatre, I was interested in what the theatre means for them and what role does it play in their lives. The subscribers usually evaluated not only performances in their home theatre, but in other theatres too and compared them. In particular cases I tried to present various types of the visitors memory . The other part is an analysis of how the subscribers perceive components of theatrical performance and if and how is the director important for them. This section showed that respondents of my research didn´t distinguish individuall components of a performance and they didn´t perceive the director as an unifying person of the performance. The name of director was important only for small group, generally more informed, subscribers. The conclusion is devoted to the division of the spectators into groups, description of their characteristics and reasons that lead them to visit the theater.
