Spreading uncertainty in world capital markets

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá šířením nejistoty na světových kapitálových trzích. Cílem práce je odhalit nejistotu na akciových trzích skrze podmíněnou volatilitu a identifikovat, jak se mezi trhy nejistota šíří. První část je zaměřena na ekonomickou teorii, která tvoří základ pro empirickou analýzu. V literární rešerši je popsán rozdíl mezi nejistotou a rizikem, jak lze nejistotu identifikovat a jak se šíří. Empirická analýza identifikuje nejistotu na americkém, evropském a asijském trhu skrze tři akciové indexy. V této části jsou provedeny výpočty logaritmických výno-sů, testy korelace a autokorelace, analýza reziduí, Sharpe ratio, ARCH a GARCH testy a DCC modely.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the spread of uncertainty in world capital markets. The aim of this work is to discover uncertainty in stock markets through conditional volatility and identify how uncertainty spreads between markets. The first part of this diploma thesis is focused on economic theory, which forms the basis for empirical analysis. The literature review describes the difference between uncertainty and risk, how to uncertainty can be identified and how it spreads. Empirical analysis identifies uncertainty in US, European and Asian markets through three stock indices. This part is consists of calculations of logarithmic returns, correlation and autocorrelation test, residue analysis, Sharpe ratio, ARCH and GARCH tests and also DCC models.
