E-learning as a competitive advantage for organizations

Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá využívání e-vzdělávacího systému ve vybrané organizaci, jeho problémy a příležitosti vznikající při implementaci a s přihlédnutím k aktuálním trendům navrhuje jejich řešení či využití, přičemž díky metodice kvalitativní případové studie je zefektivnění aplikovatelné i v rámci dalších organizací. Při výzkumu byla využita metoda zúčastněného pozorování, rešerší, SWOT analýzy a rozhovorů. Práce je založena na dotazování zaměstnanců se zkušenostmi s e-orientaci a podílejícími se na vývoji platformy. Bylo zjištěno, že e-vzdělávání je ve firmách využíváno hlavně pro zákonná a odborná školení a je vnímáno pozitivně. Implementace e-platformy vyžaduje zdroje a úsilí, snižuje množství interakce, zvyšuje potřebu sledování a alespoň zatím se nehodí jako jediná metoda vzdělávání. Výsledky dále ukazují faktory, jež musí organizace při implementaci e-learningu zvážit. Jde o zvážení kladů a záporů, individualizace, technické realizace, času, učebního materiálu, vynaložení zdrojů, vlastního úsilí a odbornosti více lidí a plánování zavádění nových postupů. Oproti tomu zvyšuje flexibilitu, nezávislost, časovou efektivitu, distribuční možnosti, spokojenost uživatelů, úsporu nákladů a automatizuje vzdělávací proces. Práce by měla pomoci vedoucím pracovníkům organizací objasnit význam e-vzdělávání a rozšířit poznání tématiky e-learningu v České republice. Omezení výzkumu spočívají v odlišnosti některých organizací, a tudíž ve výjimečných případech nemožnosti aplikace návrhů a také nedostatečném pokrytí některých témat, což bylo způsobeno rozsahem tématu a nedostatkem časové dotace.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the use of e-learning system in a selected organization, its problems and opportunities arising during implementation taking into account current trends proposes their solution or use, while thanks to the qualitative case study methodology is the streamlining applicable to other organizations. The research used participant observation research, SWOT analysis and interviews. This work is based on interviewing employees with experiences in e-orientation and involved in the development of the platform. It was found that e-learning is mainly used in companies for legal and professional training and is perceived positively. Implementing an e-platform requires resources and effort, reduces the amount of interaction, increases the need for monitoring and at least for now is not suitable as the only method of training. The results also show factors that organisations need to consider when implementing e-learning. These include taking into account the pros and cons, individualisation, technical implementation, time, learning materials, resource commitment, own effort and expertise of multiple people and planning for the introduction of new practices. In contrast, it increases flexibility, independence, time efficiency, distribution capabilities, user satisfaction, cost savings and automates the learning process. This work should help to leaders of organizations to clarify the importance of e-learning and to broaden understanding of the topic of e-learning in the Czech Republic. The limitations of research lie in the difference of some organizations and therefore in exceptional cases the impossibility of applying the suggestions as well as the lack of coverage of some topics, which was caused by the scope of the topic and the lack of time allocation.
