Self-esteem in Pupils with Specific Learning Disabilities and their Position in the Classroom

Abstract:

Námětem diplomové práce je sebehodnocení žáků se specifickými poruchami učení a jejich pozice ve školní třídě. V teoretické části jsou uvedeny základní poznatky týkající se sebehodnocení, období pubescence, specifických poruch učení a pozice ve skupině (a školní třídě). Ve druhé části, empirické, jsou poskytnuty informace o námi realizovaném výzkumu (2010), který se týkal sebehodnocení žáků se specifickými poruchami učení na druhém stupni základních škol a jejich pozice ve školní třídě. Studie se zúčastnilo 393 žáků z pěti základních škol ve věku od 11 do 16 let, z nichž bylo 103 žáků se specifickými poruchami učení a 290 bez specifických poruch učení. Ke sběru dat jsme použili dva dotazníky, Rosenbergovu škálu sebehodnocení a Sorad. Naším hlavním cílem bylo porovnat úroveň sebehodnocení a pozici ve třídě žáků se specifickými poruchami učení s úrovní sebehodnocení a pozicí ve třídě žáků bez specifických poruch učení. Sběr dat proběhl v jednom velkém městě a jednom malém městě, abychom mohli zjistit, zda existuje rozdíl v úrovni sebehodnocení a pozici ve třídě u žáků se specifickými poruchami učení navštěvujících školy ve velkém městě a úrovní sebehodnocení a pozicí ve třídě u žáků se specifickými poruchami učení navštěvujících školy v malém městě. Také nás zajímalo, zda existuje vztah mezi pozicí ve třídě a sebehodnocením. Zjistili jsme statisticky významný rozdíl mezi úrovní sebehodnocení i pozicí ve třídě žáků se specifickými poruchami učení a úrovní sebehodnocení a pozicí ve třídě žáků bez specifických poruch učení. Zajímavé výsledky přineslo srovnání úrovně sebehodnocení žáků ve velkém městě a v malém městě. Při analýze dat od žáků z malého města jsme zjistili statisticky významný rozdíl mezi úrovní sebehodnocení u žáků se specifickými poruchami učení a bez specifických poruch učení, kdežto mezi žáky se specifickými poruchami učení a žáky bez specifických poruch učení, kteří navštěvují základní školy ve velkém městě, statisticky významný rozdíl v úrovni sebehodnocení nebyl. Tento výsledek by mohl naznačovat rozdíl v péči, která je poskytována žákům se specifickými poruchami učení v malém městě a ve velkém městě.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with questions of the self-esteem in pupils with specific learning disabilities and their position in the classroom. Basic knowledge concerning self-esteem, pubescence, specific learning disabilities and position in the group (and classroom) is described in the first (theoretical) part of the thesis. In the second part (empirical) our reseach (2010) concerning self-esteem in pupils with specific learning disabilities and their position in the classroom is described. The study was aimed at pupils who attend primary schools. 393 pupils from 11 to 16 years old including 103 pupils with specific learning disabilities and 290 pupils with no specific learning disability took part in our research. The pupils were from 5 primary schools. We used two questionnaires, Rosenberg's scale of self-esteem and Sorad. Our main focus was on self-esteem and position in the classroom of pupils diagnosed with specific learning disabilities in comparison to self-esteem and position in the classroom of pupils with no specific learning disability. Our research took place in one big city and one small town so as we could find out whether there are some significant differences between self-esteem and positon in the classroom of pupils with specific learning disabilities from the big city and sel-esteem and position in the classroom of pupils with specific learning from the small town. We also wanted to know whether there is a significant relationship between position in the clasroom and self-esteem. We found significant differences in both self-esteem and position in the classroom of pupils with specific learning disabilities and self-esteem and position in the classroom of pupils with no specific learning disability. Useful information came from comparison of self-esteem in pupils from big city and small town. When we compared pupils from small town we have found significant differences between self-esteem in pupils with specific learning disabilities and self-esteem in pupils with no specific learning disability but when we compared pupils from the big city there were no significant differences between self-esteem in pupils with specific learning disabilities and self-esteem in pupils with no specific learning disability. This result may be connected with different care of pupils with speciffic learning disabilities in the big city and in the small town.
