Gender differences in interpersonal relationships

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Genderové odlišnosti v interpersonálních vztazích je zaměřena na zjišťování rozdílů a vztahů mezi genderovými typy (maskulinní, feminní, androgynní typ) a kategoriemi interpersonálního chování vymezenými T. Learym v jeho Dotazníku interpersonální diagnózy (ICL). Teoretická část se zabývá vymezením pojmu gender v individuálním, sociálním a biologickém kontextu. Jsou zde také vymezeny jednotlivé kategorie genderu a rozpracovány genderové role a stereotypy v interpersonálních vztazích. Výzkumný soubor respondentů tvoří studenti psychologie ze tří českých univerzit a byl vybrán pomocí příležitostného kvótního výběru. Výzkumná část práce je zaměřena na zjišťování existence vztahu mezi jednotlivými kategoriemi interpersonálního chování měřenými pomocí dotazníku ICL a genderovými typy respondentů bez vztahu i ve vztahu k jejich biologickému pohlaví. Genderové typy respondentů jsou zjišťovány pomocí dotazníku BSRI (Bem Sex Role Inventory). Získaná data byla zpracována pomocí Testu na srovnání průměru normálních veličin, Krustal-Wallisova testu, testu Duncanové (pro ad hoc analýzu dat) a testu využívajícího Studentovo rozdělení. Zpracování dat potvrdilo vliv biologického pohlaví na vztah mezi kategoriemi interpersonálního chování a genderovými typy. Původní předpoklad, že existuje vztah mezi interpersonálním chováním a genderovými typy respondentů byl rovněž prokázán.

Abstract:

The thesis entitled Gender Differences in Interpersonal Relationships is focused on determining the differences and relationships among gender types (masculine, feminine, androgynous type) and the categories of interpersonal behaviour defined by T. Leary in his Interpersonal Diagnosis of Personality questionnaire (ICL). The theoretical part deals with the definition of the concept of gender in individual, social and biological context. Various categories of gender are also defined there and gender roles and stereotypes in interpersonal relationships are worked out. The research group of the respondents are students of psychology from three Czech universities, and it was selected with the occasional quota sampling. The research part of the thesis is focused on determining the existence of a relationship between the categories of interpersonal behaviour measured using the ICL questionnaire and gender types of respondents unrelated and also related to their biological sex. Gender types of respondents are surveyed using the BSRI questionnaire (Bem Sex Role Inventory). The data were processed using the Test for Comparison of Course of Normal Values, Krustal-Wallis test, Duncan test (for ad hoc data analysis) and a test utilizing Student?s division. Processing data confirmed the influence of biological sex on the relationship between the categories of interpersonal behaviour and gender types. The original assumption that there is a relationship between interpersonal behaviour and gender types of respondents was also demonstrated.
