The Use of Songs in Teaching Czech as a Second Language

Anotácia:

Cílem práce je představit využití hudby a českých písní ve výuce češtiny jako druhého jazyka. V teoretické části se zaměřujeme na vymezení pojmů týkajících se češtiny jako cílového jazyka, na postavení hudby ve výuce cizích jazyků, její funkce a možnosti zapojení do výuky. Tato část vyzdvihuje výhody, které z využití hudby a písní ve výuce vyplývají. V praktické části analyzujeme učebnice češtiny pro cizince, které s písněmi pracují, a představujeme návrh pracovních listů s využitím českých písní pro výuku dospělých na úrovních A2–C1 podle Společného evropského referenčního rámce pro jazyky.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to present the use of music and Czech songs and its role in teaching of Czech as a second language. The theoretical part is focused on demarcation of the concepts regarding teaching the Czech language, the role of music therein, specifically music’s function and possible integration into teaching. This part of the thesis highlights the advantages of using music and songs in teaching. The practical part analyses textbooks of Czech for foreigners which contain activities with the use of songs and presents worksheets that are based on Czech songs, suitable for teaching adults from level A2 to C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
