Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o politicko-ekonomických vztazích USA a Číny od jejich historických počátků po současnost. Vzhledem ke geopolitickému významu obou těchto velmocí a probíhajícímu obchodnímu konfliktu se tyto vztahy stále více profilují jako jedny z ústředních hybatelů světového ekonomického a geoekonomického vývoje. Cílem této diplomové práce je definování hlavních problémů americko-čínských politicko-ekonomických vztahů, jež vedly k současnému zhoršení a jejich vliv na bilaterální obchod a investice. Jelikož technologický aspekt hraje v současných vztazích zásadní roli, je vzájemný obchod zkoumán také s ohledem na hi-tech sektor. V rámci případové studie byla do diplomové práce vybrána společnost Huawei, jež má pro technologické ambice Číny strategický význam a před vypuknutím obchodního konfliktu měla dominantní postavení nejen ve výrobním sektoru informačních a telekomunikačních technologií ale také v rámci technologických inovací. V této části je tak zkoumán dopad konfliktu na tyto oblasti.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the contemporary political and economical relations of US and China since their historic beginnings. These bilateral relations are - considering the geopolitical significance of both superpowers and the ongoing trade war – increasingly more significant and are becoming the central drivers of global economical and geoeconomical development. Aim of this thesis is to determine real impact of those worsening relations and the ongoing trade war on bilateral trade and investments, and define main problems behind this worsening. Since the technological aspect plays major part in the contemporary relations, bilateral trade will be examined also with regard to the hi-tech sector. As part of the case study in this thesis, the case of Huawei was chosen, as it represents strategic importance for China’s technological ambitions. And since the company has been the leader in ICT manufacturing and also in the field of technological innovation this case study examines the impacts of the trade war in those areas.
