V roce 2011 proběhla secese Jižního Súdánu od Súdánu. Na území nového státu se nachází většina ropných zásob bývalé země, hlavního zdroje příjmů. Čínská ropná společnost CNPC zde působí jako nejvýznamnější zahraniční ekonomický subjekt. Na druhou stranu, o nezávislost Jižního Súdánu se dlouhá léta pokoušely západní země v čele s USA. Abstract:
In 2011, South Sudan seceded from Sudan. Most of the petroleum reserves of the old country, the main source of income, lie within the territory of the new state. A Chinese petroleum company, CNPC, is the central foreign economic subject there.
