India’s Stance Towards Chinese BRI

Abstract:

Existuje mnoho debat a neshod ohledně pozice Indie vůči iniciativě Pásu a cesty (Belt and Road Initiative - BRI) v posledních letech. V rámci grandiózního plánu Číny na rozvoj infrastruktury budou spojeny kontinenty Asie, Evropy a Afriky pomocí systému přístavů, silnic, železnic a dalších infrastrukturních projektů. Indie vyjádřila obavy z možných strategických a finančních dopadů BRI a kritizovala tuto iniciativu. Tato eseje zkoumá pozici Indie vůči iniciativě Pásu a cesty a navrhuje politická doporučení pro indickou vládu. Výzkum zkoumá historické, geopolitické a ekonomické faktory ovlivňující indický postoj k této iniciativě. Hodnotí výhody a nevýhody BRI pro Indii. Pro indickou vládu, zúčastněné strany a tvůrce politiky poskytuje závěry, které pomohou určit indickou odezvu na jednu z nejdůležitějších infrastrukturních iniciativ z poslední doby. Studie se zaměřuje na základní otázky oficiálního postoje Indie k BRI, jak se tento postoj změnil, jak obavy Indie ohledně bezpečnostních dopadů BRI ovlivnily její postoj, zejména v souvislosti s čínskou aktivitou v oblasti Indického oceánu, a jak Indie usilovala o protiopatření vůči BRI, stejně jako úspěchy a obtíže, kterým přitom čelila. Studie také zkoumá, jak indická vnitřní politika ovlivnila její postoj k této iniciativě.

Abstract:

There has been much debate and disagreement regarding India's position on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in recent years. Under China's grandiose infrastructure development plan, the continents of Asia, Europe, and Africa will be linked by a system of ports, roadways, trains, and other infrastructure projects. India has voiced concerns about the BRI's possible strategic and fiscal ramifications, and it has issued criticism of the initiative. This essay examines India's position on the Belt and Road Initiative and makes policy suggestions for the Indian government. The research examines the historical, geopolitical, and economic factors influencing India's stance on the initiative. It assesses India's advantages and disadvantages of the BRI. For the Indian government, stakeholders, and policymakers, it provides takeaways that will help direct India's response to one of the country's most important recent infra-structure initiatives. The study focuses on the fundamental issues of India's official position on the BRI, how it has changed, how India's worries about the BRI's security ramifications have affected its stance, particularly regarding Chinese activities in the Indian Ocean region, and how India's has attempted to counter the BRI, as well as the successes and difficulties it has faced in doing so. The study also examines how India's internal politics have influenced its position on the initiative.
