Austrian Culture Studies in Foreign Language Teaching

Abstract:

In my thesis, I am focusing on possibilities of use of cultural facts about Austria in German language classes, where I personally incline to intercultural education. The thesis is divided in theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, I am focusing on the issues of teaching of cultural facts, their importance and didactic concepts, history and aforementioned intercultural education. In my thesis, I am also dealing with the close relation between culture and language and possible misunderstandings, which could occur, when cultural context is not mentioned. I am also focusing on aims and concepts of intercultural education and on the qualification of the teacher, which is needed when fulfilling these tasks. In the end of the theoretical part, I am mentioning various educational materials, teaching aids, all sorts of texts and publications, which could be taken into consideration when teaching Austrian cultural facts. The practical part is divided into 7 thematic units such as the identity of Austrians, the history of Austria, alternations of language, federal states, food and drinks, holidays and traditions and Austrian companies and products. Every thematic unit includes proposals of suitable materials and educational methods.

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci se zabývám možnostmi práce s rakouskými reáliemi ve výuce německého jazyka, přičemž se přikláním k výuce interkulturní. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části se zabývám problematikou výuky reálií, jejich významu a didaktických koncepcí, historií a zmíněné interkulturní výuce. Ve své práci mimo jiné zmiňuji úzký vztah mezi kulturou a jazykem, a jaká nedorozumění mohou v komunikaci nastat, když člověk nezohlední kulturní kontext. Dále se zabývám cíli a koncepty interkulturního vzdělávání a v neposlední řadě zmiňuji nutnou kvalifikaci učitele při plnění těchto cílů. V závěru teoretické části zmiňuji různé učební materiály, pomůcky, druhy textů a publikace, které ve výuce rakouských reálií přicházejí v úvahu. Praktická část je rozdělena na 7 tematických celků jako identita Rakušanů, dějiny Rakouska, různé obměny jazyka, spolkové země, jídlo a pití, svátky a zvyky a rakouské firmy a produkty. Ke každému tematickému celku jsou vypracovány návrhy, jaké materiály je možné použít a jak eventuálně při výuce postupovat.
