Armenian Diaspora and Tourism in the Republic of Armenia

Abstract:

Tato práce si klade za cíl zmapovat diasporní cestovní ruch v Arménské republice a Náhorním Karabachu. První část práce bude popisovat arménskou diasporu, její historické fáze a příčiny a stav této diaspory v současnosti. Druhá část práce bude obsahovat teorii diasporního cestovního ruchu společně s jeho formami a typy organizací, které jsou do diasporního cestovního ruchu zapojeny. Dále budou uvedeny obecné předpoklady Arménie pro cestovní ruch, také zde budou uvedeny statistiky příjezdů diasporních turistů, tím se má na mysli počty turistů a země, z které vycestovali. Budou zde také popsány čtyři nejčastější formy diasporního turismu v Arménii. Ve třetí kapitole bude zmapována podpora a propagace tohoto typu turismu ze strany Arménie a arménských organizací, konkrétně Ministerstva diaspory, organizace Birthright Armenia a Arménského dobrovolnického sboru. Zde budou podrobně popsány některé vybrané programy, které si kladou za cíl přilákat do země diasporní turisty a dobrovolníky. V poslední kapitole bude popsán diasporní cestovní ruch v Náhorním Karabachu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with diasporic tourism in the Republic of Armenia. In the first part of the thesis will be described theory of a diasporic tourism and its forms together with a types of organizations involved into the diasporic tourism. Also the common preconditions for Armenian toruism wil be stated. The second part of the thesis deals with metodology. In this part will be described how the data for an empirical part of the thesis were collected. In the empirical part of the thesis will be stated statistics of diaspora tourists arrivals, which means number of tourists and countries from which they traveled. Also the biggest and most visited sights of Armenia will be stated. That means not only cultural-historical sights, but also a natural ones, for example the lake Sevan. Mostly the form of diasporic tourism which name is Tourism for culture and heritage of the country will be mapped. And finally a promotion of this type of tourism by the state of Armenia and armenian organizations will be mapped. Namely the Ministry of diaspora, organization Birthright Armenia and Armenian Volunteer Corps. Here will be decribed some selected programs, that aims to attract diaspora tourists and volunteers. In the last chapter will be described Diaspora Tourism in Nagorno-Karabakh.
