Modern Trends in Lighting Sci-fi

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá svícením ve filmech Blade Runner a Blade Runner 2049. Tento text však jen neporovnává obrazy z filmu, ale má za cíl ukázat čtenáři cestu, jak k těmto obrazům tvůrci došli. Ve zkratce seznámí čtenáře s tím, v jaké době tvůrci žili, jaké filmy se v oné době natáčely, a jaké konkrétní inspirace tvůrci přiznali. Tyto aspekty se pokouším v práci propojit a dát tak čtenáři základ, po kterém poté představím i vybrané obrazy a techniky, které u nich byly použity.Při psaní textu jsem kromě samotných filmů pracoval s řadami rozhovorů s tvůrci a jejich spolupracovníky, technických rozborů, filmových fór, a nabyté informace jsem poté hlouběji ověřoval a rozvětvoval. Techniky svícení jsem doplnil o informace získané při studiu kamery a v závěru jsem provedl srovnání obou filmů a vybraných scén.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on lighting in the films Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. However, this text does not merely compare images from the film, but aims to show the reader the process the filmmakers went through to achieve these ideas. It briefly introduces the reader to the era in which the filmmakers lived, what films were being made at the time, and what specific inspirations the filmmakers acknowledged. I try to link these aspects in the thesis to give the reader a foundation, after which I will then introduce the selected images and the techniques used to achieve the effect.As a source of information, in addition to the films themselves, I have worked with a series of interviews with the filmmakers and their collaborators, technical analyses, film forums, and the information I have gathered has subsequently been further expanded and verified. I supplemented the lighting techniques with information obtained in my camera studies and finally made a comparison between the two films and selected scenes.
