Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá reprodukcí vzdělanostních nerovností u dětí romské menšiny. Deficit vzdělání je hlavní příčinou vzniku a mezigeneračního přenosu sociálního vyloučení Romů. Práce analyzuje vzdělávací a profesní aspirace romských dětí zapojených do sociálně-výchovné práce Salesiánského střediska v Teplicích. Právě vzdělanostní a profesní aspirace jsou významným prediktorem budoucího profesního uplatnění. V teoretické části představuje koncepty, které vysvětlují mobilitní procesy a roli vzdělání v nich. Výzkumná část kvalitativní metodou zkoumá hodnoty a postoje romských dětí a jejich rodičů ve vztahu ke škole a vzdělání. Analýza zkoumá úroveň vzdělanostních a profesních aspirací romských dětí a způsob, jímž rodiče a vzdělávací instituce na děti a jejich budoucí kariéru působí. Pátrá po příčinách nízkých aspirací a vzdělanostních nerovností a zasazuje je do teoretických konceptů. Příčiny nízkých aspirací nachází nejenom v nízkém kulturním a ekonomickém kapitálu romské rodiny, avšak i ve škole jakožto instituci, jež posiluje znevýhodnění, které si děti z rodiny přináší.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with transfer of educational inequalities from one Romany generation to the next. Low level of education is considered as a key cause for intergenerational transfer of social exclusion. The objective of this thesis is to analyze educational and professional aspiration of Romany children who participate in educational and spare-time activities of the Salesian youth centre in the city of Teplice. There is the evidence that educational aspirations of adolescent are one of the strongest predictors of educational and occupational careers. The first part of the paper summarizes theoretical concepts of social stratification and mobility and emphasizes role of the education. Research part examines values and attitudes of Romany parents and children who attend the Salesian youth centre towards school and education. Analysis explores educational and professional aspirations of Romany children and ways how educational institutions and Romany family influence children’s further career. Analysis search for causes of low aspirations and educational inequalities in respect to social mobility theories. Low educational aspirations are shaped by parental socio-economic status and cultural capital of family and strengthen by educational system.
