Inclusion of transgender people in the school environment

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje začlenění osob procházejících změnou pohlaví (transgender) ve školním prostředí. Cílem práce je na podkladě teoretického rozboru a empirického výzkumu hlubší prozkoumání a poznání problematiky transgender osob ve školním prostředí. Teoretická část se dotýká problematiky transgender a transsexuality, tranzice a jejího legislativního vymezení v České republice, transgender žactva a studentstva v českém školním prostředí a s tím související metodiky a doporučení. V neposlední řadě se zaobírá také zahraničními výzkumy a praxí, které jsou zaměřeny na transgender problematiku. Praktickou část tvoří výsledky vlastního kvalitativního šetření pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s deseti respondenty, kterými se stali plnoleté transgender osoby starší osmnácti let, které během svého studia procházely tranzicí. Data byla analyzována a interpretována dle metodologických postupů Švaříčka a Šeďové (2007). Cílem výzkumného šetření je hlubší prozkoumání a poznání osobních zkušeností žactva a studentstva, kteří během svého studia prošli tranzicí na základní škole nebo střední škole. Na základě výzkumu jsou formulovány závěry a doporučení, která jsou využitelná v praxi sociální pedagogiky a dalších tzv. pomáhajících profesí.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the inclusion of people undergoing gender transition (transgender) in the school environment. Based on theoretical analysis and empirical research, the thesis aims to further explore and understand the issue of transgender people in the school environment. The theoretical part touches upon the topics of transgender and transsexuality, transition and its legislative definition in the Czech Republic, transgender pupils and students in the Czech school environment and related methodology and recommendations. Last but not least, it also deals with foreign research and practice related to the topic of the thesis. The practical part consists of the results of my own qualitative research using semi-structured interviews with ten respondents, who were transgender people over the age of eighteen who were undergoing transition during their studies. The data was analysed and interpreted according to the methodological procedures of Švaříček and Šeďová (2007). The aim of the research investigation is to further explore and understand the personal experiences of pupils and students who have undergone transition during their studies in primary or secondary school. Based on the research, conclusions and recommendations are formulated that are applicable in the practice of social pedagogy and other so-called helping professions.
