Algorithms for estimation of perception threshold in audiometric examinations

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá audiometrickými vyšetřovacími metodami, konkrétně testem pro zjištění odhadu prahu percepce při klasické tónové audiometrii a z něj vycházející metodou detekce poklesu intenzity podnětu, tzv. GAP-detection test. Druhá zmíněná metoda patří do skupiny nadprahových subjektivních testů, které se vyznačují velkou mírou neurčitosti. Ta často vychází z chyb vyšetření způsobených lidským faktorem, tedy nesprávnými odpověďmi vyšetřované osoby, které neodpovídají reálným vjemům. Část práce je věnována popisu těchto a jiných audiometrických testů, stejně jako obecné audiologii a fyziologii sluchového ústrojí. Další část je zaměřena na konkrétní implementaci netradičních algoritmů, které kalkulují s určitou pravděpodobností chybné odezvy uživatele, a podávají tak méně zkreslené výsledky než plně deterministické modely.

Abstract:

This master's thesis is focused on audiometric examination methods, in particular a test for estimating threshold of perception (hearing threshold), and a GAP-detection test. The latter is used for estimating threshold of differentiation, i.e. detecting a short decline in stimulus volume. It belongs to a group of above-the-threshold subjective tests, which are characterized by a high degree of uncertainty, often caused by erroneous responses given by the patient which do not correspond to real perception. Part of this thesis is dedicated to these audiometric examinations, as well as to general audiology and physiology of the hearing system. Another part is focused on implementation of unconventional algorithms that expect probable erroneous responses of users. These algorithms should provide more accurate results than simple deterministic models.
