Regional Differentiation od Demographic Development of Rural Areas of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Disertační práce se věnuje demografickému vývoji a sektorové transformaci venkovských oblastí ČR, jejich souvislostem, regionální diferenciaci a významu pro tvorbu veřejných politik. Pro celou práci je příznačná vysoká územní podrobnost zpracovávaných údajů a očištění datového souboru o vliv změn územně-správní struktury v rámci sledovaného období. Základním stavebním kamenem práce je konstrukce alternativního modelu vymezení venkovských oblastí, která má ambici překonat některé typické nedostatky konvenčních přístupů. Práce potvrzuje existenci výrazné regionální diferenciace demografického vývoje i sektorové transformace venkovských oblastí, patrná je i souvislost mezi těmito procesy. V průběhu zpracování je akcentován význam tématu jako východiska pro podporu rozvoje venkova a tvorbu komplexních a účinných veřejných politik, včetně identifikace možností využití poznatků. Mezi dílčími výstupy lze jmenovat např. konstrukci alternativního modelu vymezení venkovských oblastí a jejich kategorizaci, regionalizaci venkovských oblastí na základě jejich sektorové transformace a na základě vývoje obytné a pracovní (výrobní) funkce. Práce je doplněna množstvím kartografických výstupů.

Abstract:

The dissertation focuses on demographic trends and sectoral transformation of rural areas of the Czech Republic, their relationship, regional differentiation and relevance for making public policies. The whole study is characterized by high spatial detail of data processed and correction of dataset for changes in territorial-administrative structure within the reporting period. Important starting point of the work is the construction of alternative model of definition of rural areas, which has an ambition to overcome some of the typical shortcomings of conventional approaches. The dissertation confirms the existence of significant regional differentiation of demographic trends and sectoral transformation in rural areas, the link between those processes is also evident. Processing is accompanied by accentuation of the importance of the topic for rural development support and creating a complex and effective public policies, including the identification of examples of using the findings. Among the sub-outputs can be named eg. the construction of alternative model of definition of rural areas and its categorization, regionalization of rural areas based on their sectoral transformation and/or development of residential and production functions. The dissertation is strongly supported by cartographic outputs.
