Modern methods of playing the trombone

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá přiblížením moderních zahraničních metodik trombonové hry českému hudebnímu i pedagogickému prostředí. Tato problematika bude autorem přeložena a zpracována na základě materiálů dostupných z vybraných knih zahraničních metodik hry na trombon. Práce bude rozčleněna do několika základních technických problematik hry. Bude se zabývat technikou dýchání, tvorbou nátisku, nasazením tónu, snižcovou technikou a v neposlední řadě hrou v legátu. Ve všech těchto částech diplomové práce budou vysvětleny také nejčastější technické problémy, které se mohou při hře na trombon objevit. Při výuce na českých hudebních školách se stále objevují pouze metodiky hry na trombon od Jaroslava Ušáka a Miloslava Hejdy, které byly sepsány ve 40. letech a 60. letech 20. století. Tato práce by měla přispět k obeznámení českého pedagogického prostředí s moderními metodami hry, a mohla by se stát zdrojem přehledných a přínosných informací pro práci s žáky základních uměleckých škol a studenty konzervatoří.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with foreign modern methods of playing the trombone. It emphasizes bringing this issue closer to Czech musicians and educators. These methods will be translated and processed by the author on the basis of materials available from selected books of foreign methods of playing the trombone. The thesis will be divided into five basic technical issues of playing the trombone. It is including breathing problems, preparing the embouchure, tonguing, slide technique and performance of legato. In all of these parts of the diploma thesis, the most common technical problems that may arise, will also be explained. Only trombone methodologies by Jaroslav Ušák and Miloslav Hejda, which were written in the 1940s and 1960s, still appear in teaching at Czech music schools. This thesis should contribute to the knowledge of Czech teachers of trombone with modern methods of playing the trombone, and could become a source of well-arranged and useful informations for working with pupils of elementary art schools and students of conservatories.
