Managing work from home as a job responsibility of a 21st century manager

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tendencemi zaměstnanců prokrastinovat při práci z domova a ověřuje, zda existuje vztah mezi osobnostní charakteristikou zaměstnance a zkoumaným chováním. V rámci rešerše odborné literatury jsem se věnovala klíčovým aspektům práce z domova, specifikům vedení zaměstnanců ve virtuálním prostředí a vymezení prokrastinace. Pro účely výzkumu jsem použila Teorii plánovaného chování, která je využívána pro predikci chování, a doplnila ji o Big Five Inventory k dokreslení osobností jednotlivých respondentů. Data jsem sesbírala pomocí on-line dotazníku a následně je vyhodnotila statistickými metodami. Prostřednictvím interpretovaných dat jsem zodpověděla výzkumné otázky. Výsledky výzkumu odhalily mezi respondenty mírný sklon k prokrastinaci. Pro jednotlivé skupiny osobností potom byly definovány rizikové faktory prokrastinace a nastíněna základní pravidla, jak s nimi pracovat. Výsledky výzkumu by měly sloužit manažerům jako podklad při vedení zaměstnanců ve virtuálním prostředí.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the tendency of employees to procrastinate when working from home and verifies whether there is a relationship between the employee's personality characteristics and the investigated behavior. As a part of the academic literature research, I focused on the key aspects of working from home, the specifics of managing employees in a virtual environment and the definition of procrastination. For research purposes, I used the Theory of Planned Behavior, which is used to predict behavior, and supplemented it with the Big Five Inventory to describe the personalities of individual respondents. I collected the data using an online questionnaire and then evaluated them using statistical methods. Through the interpreted data, I answered the research questions. The results of the research revealed a slight tendency to procrastinate among the respondents. The risk factors of procrastination were then defined for individual groups of personalities and the basic rules for working with them were outlined. The results of the research should serve managers as a basis for managing employees in a virtual environment.
