The Relationship between Inflation and Unemployment in the V4 countries

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce je analýza vývoje inflace a nezaměstnanosti a jejich hlavních determinant od počátku transformace až po současnost v zemích V4 (Česká republika, Maďarsko, Polsko, Slovensko). Vývoj bude doplněn a ilustrován analýzou vzájemného vztahu mezi inflací a nezaměstnaností, tj. ověřením či vyvrácením existence jejich inverzního vztahu v podobě krátkodobé Phillipsovy křivky. První dvě části uvádějí teoretické pozadí sledovaného vztahu, a to základní informace o pojmech inflace a nezaměstnanosti a vývoj vztahu dle ekonomické teorie. Třetí část diplomové práce, stěžejní část, je zaměřena na praktické ověření sledovaného vztahu v jednotlivých zemích. Nejdříve analyzuji hlavní faktory, které určovaly a ovlivňovaly vývoj sledovaných ukazatelů. Posléze na základě získaných dat sestrojím Phillipsovy křivky a vyvodím závěry. Poslední část je věnována stručnému shrnutí a vzájemnému srovnání dosažených výsledků.

Abstract:

The goal of the submitted thesis is to analyse the development of the inflation and the unemployment and their main factors from the beginning of the transformation change up to the present in the V4 countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia). This development will be coupled with the analysis of the interrelationship between inflation and unemployment, i.e. to verify or to displace the existence of their inverse relation in the form of the short-term Phillips Curve. First two parts describes the teoretical background of this relationship, namely basic information on the conception of the inflation and of the unemployment and the development of the relationship according to the theory of the economic. The third part of the thesis, the fundamental part, is concentrated on practical examination of the identified relationship in the particular countries. First I analyse the main factors which determined and affected the development of the monitored indicators. After it on the basis of acquired data I will construct the Phillips Curves and draw conclusions from it. The last part is devoted to the summary in brief and to the mutual comparison on the reached results.
