Application of the attachment theory in foster care

Abstract:

Tato práce představuje teorii attachmentu v souvislosti s pěstounskou péčí. Cílem není jen zjistit, zda se tato teorie v oblasti pěstounské péče využívá, zda ji sami pěstouni umí aplikovat, ale také rozšířit ji více do povědomí čtenářů a případně najít možnosti zlepšení aplikovatelnosti teorie attachmentu do pěstounské péče. V práci jsou obsažena jak teoretická východiska, která představují tu ideální formu využití. A následně také její faktické využití v pěstounské péči samotnými pěstouny. Skrze rozhovory mi bylo umožněno nahlédnout do většiny zákoutí pěstounství a odhalit jak klady, tak i nástrahy, které pěstounská péče přináší. Výsledky výzkumu prokazují, že pěstounská péče je velmi náročným a současně úctyhodným procesem, kterým se respondenti rozhodli projít. Dále prokazují malou propagaci teorie attachmentu a nedostatečné vzdělávání v této oblasti. Vzhledem k počtu respondentů se ovšem jedná spíše o ilustrativní výsledky výzkumu, než o reprezentativní.

Abstract:

Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with attachment theory and its application in foster care. The main goal is to find out if this theory is used in foster care and if foster parents are able to use it. Next goal is to improve the application of this theory in foster care. But also spread it to the reader's knowledge and find the options of improving the applicability of attachment theory to foster care. In this thesis, you can find a theoretical basis, which represents an ideal form of using this theory in practice. Then I compare the theoretical form of attachment theory with practice form of this theory using by foster parents. Through interviews, I could know a lot about foster care and I can find a lot of interesting positive and negative things, which foster care can cause. The research proved that foster care is a very arduous and concurrently respectable process. Also, the result of the research shows an insufficient promotion of attachment theory and inadequate education in this area. With regard to the number of respondents, this research has rather illustrative research results than representative.
