The Acquisition of the Czech and Sign Languages: A Comparison

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na srovnání vývoje češtiny a znakového jazyka u dětí. Práce obsahuje dvě hlavní části, část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část se zabývá sluchovým postižením, znakovou řečí a především ontogenezí dětské řeči. Praktická část popisuje výzkum zaměřený na osvojování znakového jazyka neslyšícím dítětem. Výzkum analyzuje aktivní znakovou zásobu dítěte a prvky dětské řeči u substantiv v jeho zásobě. Snahou této práce je nalézt analogické odchylky od řeči dospělých s odchylkami objevujícími se při tvoření dětských slov v českém jazyce. Výzkum skutečně odhalil některé společné prvky dětské řeči a obdobné tendence při tvoření slov a znaků. Tyto analogické prvky a tendence poukazují na určité obecné zákonitosti, které se objevují nejen při osvojování jazyků mluvených, ale také znakových.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the comparison of children acquisition of the Czech and Sign Languages. The thesis consists of two main parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with defects of the acoustic apparatus, with the Sign Language, and primarily with the language development of children. The practical part describes a research into the acquisition of the Sign Language by a deaf child. The research analyses an active sign vocabulary of a child and components of the child's speech appearing in nouns of his vocabulary. The thesis attempts to disclose deviations from adult speech analogical to the deviations appearing in children word formation in Czech. The research has practically disclosed some common components of child's speech and analogical tendencies in composition of words and signs. These analogical components and tendencies point out that there are specific universal principles, which appear not only during the acquisition of spoken languages, but also the sign ones.
