Framework for the Support and Improvement of Processes in Small Software Companies

Abstract:

Tématem této disertační práce je podpora a zlepšování procesů v malých softwarových firmách. Jejím hlavním cílem je navrhnout Rámec pro podporu a zlepšování procesů malých softwarových firem a ověřit jeho použití v praxi. V úvodu práce jsou definovány její cíle a metody, kterými je těchto cílů dosaženo. Následuje rešerše a analýza dostupných zdrojů včetně přehledu hlavních nástrojů používaných v malých softwarových firmách. Současný stav je dále charakterizován pomocí dotazníkového průzkumu, který byl proveden v cílové skupině firem. Následující část práce se zabývá návrhem Rámce a jeho dílčích artefaktů. Nejprve je shrnuta motivace pro tvorbu Rámce, dále jsou definovány cíle řešení, navržena jeho struktura, artefakty a postup jejich ověření. Rámec je tvořen těmito artefakty: Referenční model procesů malých softwarových firem, Specifikace požadavků na informační systém pro malé softwarové firmy, Prototyp informačního systému a Metrika zavedení informačního systému do firmy. Každý artefakt je příslušným způsobem ověřen v cílové skupině firem.Na návrh Rámce a jeho artefaktů navazuje akční výzkum z jeho zavedení do reálné firmy. Pomocí akčního výzkumu je Rámec jako celek ověřen a jeho zavedení je vyhodnoceno definovanou Metrikou. Na závěr je zhodnocen stupeň dosažení cílů stanovených v úvodu práce a shrnuty možnosti praktického využití celé práce.

Abstract:

The topic of this dissertation thesis is the area of support and improvement of processes in small software companies. The main objective is to design a Framework for the Support and Improvement of Processes in Small Software Companies and to validate the Framework in practice.In the introduction the objectives and applied methods are defined. Following part includes search and analysis of available resources, including an overview of the major tools used by small software companies. The current state is further characterized by a questionnaire survey conducted in the target group of companies.The following part deals with the design of the Framework and its artifacts. This part includes the summary of the motivation for the creation of the Framework, the goals of the solution, the structure of the Framework, the artifacts and the procedure for their validation. The Framework is made up of the following artifacts: Reference Process Model of Small Software Companies, Requirements Analysis for the Information System for Small Software Companies, Prototype of the Information System, and Metrics for the Implementation of the Information System to the Company. Each artifact is validated in the target group of companies.The design of the Framework is followed by the Action Research conducted during its implementation in the real small software company.
