Abstract:

Hlavním tématem této diplomové práce je zkoumání archetypu Death Mother nebo archetypu Mrtvého mateřství, a analýza jeho objevovaní v současné západní kinematografii. První kapitoly této práce vysvětluji význam samotného pojmu archetyp, a jak může pochopení archetypů pomoct filmovým divákům v přečtení filmů a filmovým tvůrcům ve stavbě dramaturgie příběhu a celého audiovizuálního díla. Další kapitola prezentuje základní pojmy, spojené s archetypem Matky a konkrétně archetypem Death Mother, který poprvé pojmenovala jungianská analytička Marion Woodman. Podíváme se taky, jak tento archetyp je představený v antické mytologie na příkladech mýtů o Medúze a Médeji. V závěrečné kapitole aplikujeme pochopení archetypu Mrtvého mateřství k analýze filmů Dobrou mámo (2014), Musíme si promluvit o Kevinovi (2011) a Darjeeling s ručením omezeným (2007). Cílem této práce je nastíněni možnosti, jak se dá o filmové řeči přemýšlet pomoci použiti konceptů analytické psychologie a konkrétně pojmu archetyp na přikladu archetypu Death Mother. Není ale snahou vytvořit komplexní systém pro analýzu filmů, ale nabídnout jednu z možnosti, jak se dá o filmu uvažovat a číst filmovou řeč.

Abstract:

The main topic of this diploma thesis is the investigation of the Death Mother archetype, and the analysis of its discovery in contemporary Western cinematography. In the first chapters of this work, we will explain the meaning of the term archetype itself, and how understanding archetypes can help the viewers to read movies and filmmakers to construct the dramaturgy of the story and the entire audiovisual work. The next chapter presents the basic concepts associated with the Mother archetype and specifically the Death Mother archetype, which was first named by the Jungian analyst Marion Woodman. We will also look at how this archetype is presented in ancient mythology using the examples of the Medusa and Medea myths. In the final chapter, we apply an understanding of the Dead Mother archetype to the analysis of Goodnight Mommy (2014), We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011), and Darjeeling Limited (2007). The aim of this work is to outline the possibilities of how we could read the film language by using the concepts of analytical psychology and specifically the concept of archetype using the example of the Death Mother archetype. It is not an attempt to create a comprehensive system for film analysis, but a proposal of one of the options for thinking about film and reading film language.
