Stratigraphy and contamination of recent sediments in selected depositional settings of River Morava

Abstract:

V období od podzimu 2009 do jara 2011 proběhl průzkum horního toku Moravy mezi Bludovem a Štěpánovem, který měl za cíl studium recentních fluviálních sedimentů. Byly odebrány vzorky sedimentárních jader od 50-170 cm a na dvou lokalitách bylo provedeno měření elektrické rezistivity sedimentů. K datování byl využit izotop 137 Cs, který dosáhl svého maxima v roce 1986 po jaderné katastrofě v Černobylu. Báze odebraných sedimentů se pohybuje v rozmezí konce 50. let až začátku 90. let 20. století. Ke stratigrafiím byly využity metody magnetické susceptibility a spektrální spektrometrie. Některé vzorky byly podrobeny laserové granulometrii. Koncentrace těžkých kovů byly měřeny převážně EDXRF a částečně porovnány s výsledky z AMS. Koncentrace těžkých kovů v posledních 20 letech ve většině případů má klesající trend oproti období mezi 1950 - 1990. Práce hodnotí vztahy stratigrafických prvků s obsahy těžkých kovů. Přináší nové poznatky o rychlosti sedimentace v Hornomoravském úvalu a Mohelnické brázdě.

Abstract:

The research conducted for the purpose of this study took place between Bludov and Štěpanov along the Morava river during the time period from autumn 2009 until spring 2011. The aim of this study was the investigation of recent fluvial sediments. The sediment core samples were taken from 50-170 cm depth at 6 different localities. The geophysical measurement of electric resistivity was undertaken on 2 localities. The radioactive isotope of 137 Cs was used for dating. The highest 137Cs values correspond to nuclear catastrophe in Černobyl of 1986. The base of sediment core varies from 1950´s until 1990´s. The methods of magnetic susceptibility and spectral photometry were used as stratigraphical methods. Laser granulometer was used to detect grain size of several samples. Chemical concentrations were usually measured with EDXRF but the results for a selection of samples were compared with the results from AMS. The content of heavy metals shows a decreasing trend over the last 20 years. This study presents new data on sedimentation rates in the study area of Mohelnická brázda and Hornomoravský úval
