This thesis focuses on the problems of the prison system in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Poland and includes an explanation of the basic concepts of the prison system. The theoretical article offers the tasks, organization and management of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, then deals with prison facilities, the rights and obligations of convicts and European rules for prisons.
