Anotácia:

Tato bakalářská práce se bude zabývat projevy satiry v britské literatuře a ostatním umění. Bude se zaměřovat na představitele 18. století, jako jsou Swift, Pope, Fielding, Gay, Hogarth, Gillray a Rowlandson. Ukáže, na jakou tradici umělci navazovali a z čeho, hlavně se ale bude věnovat problémům doby a reakcím, které tyto problémy vyvolaly na poli literatury a umění. Porovná, jaká témata zpracovávali satirikové a co zobrazovali malíři a karikaturisté. Bude zjišťovat, jaké metody používali a jakého efektu svými díly dosáhli. Nakonec nastíní i tendence vývoje satiry v 19. století.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis will deal with the manifestations of satire in British literature and other arts. It will present 18th-century representatives such as Swift, Pope, Fielding, Gay, Hogarth, Gillray, and Rowlandson. It will show what tradition the artists followed and what they drew from, but mainly it will focus on the problems of the time and the reactions they evoked in the field of literature and art. It will compare what topics the satirists worked on and what the painters and cartoonists portrayed. It will find out what methods they used and what effect they achieved with their works. Finally, it will outline the tendencies in the development of satire in the 19th century.
