Human bone as an artefact

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci je zpracované téma používání lidské kosti jako artefaktu. Významná část práce je zaměřena na zpracování základního přehledu a typologii artefaktů z lidských kostí. Srovnány jsou příklady využití lidských kostí jako artefaktu v jednotlivých obdobích od pravěku po novověk. Na základě literární rešerše je popsáno 131 nálezů z 33 nalezišť. Analýza se zaměřuje na způsoby, jakými byla kost používaná, na identifikaci použité kosti a na zastoupení jednotlivých nalezených artefaktů podle historického období.

Abstract:

In this bachelor thesis the topic of using human bone as an artefact is treated. A significant part of the thesis is focused on a basic overview and typology of human bone artefacts. Examples of the use of human bones as artefacts in different periods from prehistoric to modern times are compared. Based on a literature search, 131 finds from 33 sites are described. The analysis focuses on the ways in which bone was used, the identification of the bone used, and the representation of each artefact found by historical period.
