Collecting personal and identification data by Google seen from the user's perspective

Abstract:

Cílem mého výzkumu bylo zjistit pohled laických, běžných uživatelů internetu na téma shromažďování osobních a identifikačních údajů společností Google. Podstatou výzkumu bylo najít, co o tomto problému soudí běžní uživatelé, jak jej reflektují a dále pak také jak oni sami v tomto kontextu jednají a zda nějak svá osobní data a soukromí chrání.Výzkum proběhl kvalitativními metodami za použití záměrného výběru vzorku a polostrukturovaného rozhovoru pro sběr dat, která byla následně analyzována metodou zakotvené teorie. Výsledky mého výzkumu považuji za zajímavé zejména pro jejich kvalitativní povahu, jelikož většina výzkumů na tomto poli byla uskutečněna převážně kvantitativně. Získané kategorie bych navrhovala jako námět pro další výzkum zaměřený právě na zjištění aktuální profilu a požadavků na „běžného uživatele“ v měnících se podmínkách informační společnosti.

Abstract:

The goal of this work is to explore the opinion of non-expert users on collecting both personal and identification data by Google. The main purpose of this study is to find out the non-expert user’s reflexivity on this subject, how they act in the context of online privacy and finally to find out if the non-expert users make some action to ensure their personal date flow on the internet. The research was done through qualitative methods by using structured interview for data collection. The obtained data were analysed by using thee grounded theory method.The results may be valuable especially for its qualitative nature since most of the research done in this field is of quantitative nature. The categories obtained in this research may be used for further detailed research on the requirements and profile of the so-called „non-expert internet user“.
