Oral hygiene in pregnancy

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou ústní hygieny u těhotných žen. Teoretická část popisuje proces jednotlivých fází těhotenství a s ním spojené četné fyzické a psychické změny v organismu. Práce se podrobně zaměřuje na změny v dutině ústní během těhotenství a také řeší vliv celkového stavu organismu na dutinu ústní. Dále zmiňuje nejčastější onemocnění, která se mohou v těhotenství v souvislosti s dutinou ústní vyskytnout a jaké jsou možnosti prevence a profylaxe. Práce uvádí rozdíly v péči o orální zdraví u těhotných žen a běžných pacientů a věnuje se vlivu výživy na dutinu ústní. Také jsou popsána určitá rizika při ošetřování těhotných žen u dentální hygienistky. Teoretické poznatky je možné využít v praktické části, které slouží jako pomůcka pro sestavení informačních letáků pro těhotné ženy. Teoretické poznatky lze také uplatnit při managementu práce dentální hygienistky u těhotných žen a při sestavování léčebného a preventivního plánu. Poznatky lze dále prakticky využít při sestavování obsahu preventivního programu orálního zdraví, určeného speciálně pro těhotné ženy. Praktická část práce se zabývá informovaností těhotných žen v oblasti ústního zdraví a hygieny a úrovní jejich péče o dutinu ústní. Pomocí navržených informačních letáků do čekáren a ordinací lékařů a dentálních hygienistek lze zvýšit informovanost a zlepšit orální zdraví nejen u těhotných žen, ale později i u jejich potomků.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on oral hygiene in pregnant women. The theoretical part describes the different stages of pregnancy and related numerous physical and psychological changes in the body. The thesis is focused on the changes in the oral cavity during pregnancy and also on the impact of overall condition of the body to the oral cavity. The thesis mentions the most common diseases that may occur during pregnancy in connection with the oral cavity and what are the options for prevention and prophylaxis. The thesis presents the differences in oral health care for pregnant women and common patients and deals with the effect of nutrition on oral cavity. Also describes some risks of care in pregnant women at dental hygienist. The theoretical knowledge can be used in the practical part, which serves for compiling handout for pregnant women. Also the theoretical knowledge can be used in management of dental hygienist in pregnant women and compilation of curative and preventive healthcare. The knowledge can be also used in compilation of preventive plan of oral health especially for pregnant women. The practical part presents the evaluation of research dealing with level of care and knowledge about oral health in pregnant women. With proposed handouts which can be placed at doctorʼs and dental hygienistʼs waiting room can raise knowledge and improve oral health in pregnant women and their offspring.
