Soil enviroment in traditional forest management after conversion of high forest to coppice-with-standard in relation to dendrometric characteristics of the standard

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává jak o pedologických, tak o dendrometrických vlastnostech ve vztahu k tradičnímu lesnickému managementu. Z pedologických vlastností zde zjišťuji kvan¬tifikaci opadu, půdní reakci, minerální formy dusíku, zásobu uhlíku a bazickou saturaci. To vše jsme zkoumali z lesních půd. Z dendrometrických dat se zde zjišťuje relativní přírůst a abso¬lutní přírůst. Výzkum byl založen v roce 2017. Tradičním managementem se zde myslí hrabání steliva, střední les a pařezina. Jednotlivé managementy určitým způsobem ovlivňují jak jednotlivé vlastnosti půdy, tak přírůst dubu zimního v horní etáži. Tato výzkumná plocha se nachází na lokalitě nazývané Hradisko, která je součástí Školního lesního podniku Masarykův lesk Křtiny. Cílem diplomové práce je porovnání jak krátkodobých změn půdního prostředí, tak dendrometrických charakteristik horní etáže porostu na studijní ploše. Z pedo¬logických vlastností bych vyzdvihl půdní reakci aktivní, jelikož průměrné hodnoty pH vyšly od 5,63 do 5,28. Jedná se tedy o půdy středně až mírně kyselé. Dále bych vyzdvihl kvantifikaci opadu, jelikož zde byly nejvyšší hodnoty u kontroly, a to 7,60 t/ha, naopak zbylé varianty měly průměrný opad 4,13–3,23 t/ha. Jako poslední pedologickou vlastnost půdy je dobré zmínit zásobu uhlíku. Zde jsou hodnoty nejvyšší u kontroly a nejnižší u variant, kde byla provedena těžba a pastva. Z dendrometrických dat bych vyzdvihl relativní přírůst, jelikož nejmenší přírůst byl u kontroly, a to 0,39 cm, naopak zbylé varianty byly 2,5–3x vyšší, a to od 1,28 do 1,08 cm.

Abstract:

This thesis discusses both pedological and dendrometric characteristics relating to traditional forest management. Among the pedological properties, fallout quantification, soil reaction, mineral forms of nitrogen, carbon stock and base saturation are investigated. All these properties were analysed in forest soils. The dendrometric data examined include relative increment and absolute increment. The research was conducted in 2017. Traditional management is defined by litter raking, mid-forest and stumpage. The different management practices, to a certain degree, affect the individual soil properties, as well as the growth of winter oak in the forest canopy. The research area is located on the site called Hradisko, which is part of the Training Forest Enterprise Masaryk Forest Křtiny. The aim of the thesis is to look into both short-term changes in the soil environment and dendrometric properties of the forest canopy in the research area. Among the pedological properties, the active soil reaction can be highlighted, as the average pH values were ranging from 5.63 – 5.28. Thus, the soils are moderately to slightly acidic. The fallout quantification can be also emphasized, as the highest values were in the control area were 7.60t/ha, while the other variants had an average fallout of 4.13 – 3.23t/ha. Carbon stock is another soil characteristics which is worth mentioning as its values are the highest in the control area and the lowest in the variants where logging and grazing were carried out. As for the dendrometric data, the relative increment is important, as the lowest increment was in the control sample - 0.39 cm, while in the other variants it was 2.5 – 3 times higher, ranging from 1.28 –1.08 cm.
